Painter, printmaker and teacher, born in Shoreham, Sussex. He studied at Brighton College of Art and Royal College of Art and was a Rome Scholar, 1957–9, specialising in etching. Burke taught at Brighton College of Art and became head of painting at Brighton Polytechnic, retiring in 1989. Some of his work was Pop-influenced, as in The Sussex Scene, Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne, 1993.
