Painter and draughtsman, born in Reading, Berkshire, who did a foundation course at Bath College of Higher Education, 1986–7; gained a fine art honours degree, Manchester Polytechnic, 1987–90; and his teaching certificate at University of Greenwich, 1992–3, becoming a full-time artist from 1994. In his open-air street scenes and landscapes Brown was “obsessed with different weather”. He was a member of NEAC, RBA, Bath Society of Artists and PS, being featured in its centenary book, Pastel Painting and Drawing, 1898–2000, and an associate of ROI. Group shows included Albany Gallery, Cardiff, and Linda Blackstone Gallery, Pinner. Won a string of awards, later ones including W H Patterson Memorial Award, NEAC, 2000, and Arts Club Award, PS, 2001.
