Landscape painter and teacher who after attending George Heriot’s School in Edinburgh gained his diploma at the College of Art. After World War I service with the Royal Scots Regiment he taught at Manchester School of Art, L S Lowry being a pupil. Later appointed art master at William Hulme’s Grammar School, taking a similar post in 1945 at Lawrence Sheriff School, Rugby, eventually settling in Salisbury, Wiltshire. He died on a business trip to Manchester, where the City Art Gallery holds many examples. Showed at MAFA, RSA, with Wessex Artists and with Civil Defence Artists, having been a warden in World War II.
