Painter, stained glass artist and printmaker, born in Scarborough, Yorkshire. Studied at Edinburgh College of Art, in Antwerp and at Académie Julian, Paris, under Adolphe Bouguereau. Served in Army in both Boer War and World War I. Prolific exhibitor, especially at RSW and RSA, also at RA, RE, RP and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. Elected RSA, 1938. Lived in Edinburgh.
