Artist in various media who was particularly noted for her confident ability to make the line; her work had strong decorative and surreal elements and made much use of the human figure. Black was born in Forfar, Angus, and studied at Edinburgh College of Art, 1980–6. She lived and taught in Dunfermline, Fife. Her work was shown in solo and group shows in Britain and America, notably in Edinburgh City Art Centre’s exhibition Through Women’s Eyes, 1992–3. The Centre, Stirling University and BBC Scotland hold her work.
