Michael Bishop, messenger porter, but previously a driver, who was removed from the footplate for some indiscretion or other which he would never tell about. He deserves to be mentioned because he left behind not only writings on the early locomotives, but many "flamboyant" paintings of the earlier types, and which at one time could be seen in many homes and public houses in the locality of the station at Derby. Many of these were the only records of these locomotives built in these palmy days, but unfortunately few of these are left today.
