Painter and teacher, born in Ward Green, Yorkshire. Studied at Sheffield College of Art & Design, 1964–8; Goldsmiths’ College, 1968–9; and Royal College of Art, 1969–72. Group shows included RA Summer Exhibitions from 1973; Richard Demarco Gallery, Edinburgh, 1976; Summer Show, Serpentine Gallery, 1979; The Alternative Tate, Paton Gallery, 1982; and Coach House Contemporary Art, Kirkby Lonsdale, from 1987. Had a solo show at Mappin Art Gallery, Sheffield, 1974, later ones including Yorkshire Television, Leeds, 1991. Also showed with Hart Gallery, including a solo show in 2005. Walker-Barker taught part-time at various colleges and was visual arts fellow at Bradford University in 1979. Arts Council holds his work.
