Figurative sculptor and teacher who sculpted full-time from 1988, after studying at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, in Dundee, and teaching art in a school there. In 1987, he was awarded the Sir Otto Beit Medal for his Deer Leap in the city’s Technology Park. Annand went on to complete a number of public sculptures around Britain and is notable for the series of racing drivers Colin Chapman, Jim and Roger Clark and Mike Hailwood, 1997–9, at Mallory Park race track in Leicestershire. In 2003, a public art project, Tumbler Falls, Dundee, was commissioned by Land Securities, managed by Dundee Public Art Programme. Annand’s working base was Kilmany, Fife.
