Notably a portrait sculptor, born in Northampton. He trained at Blackpool College of Art and graduated with an honours degree in fine art from Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham, in 1980. His sporting portraits included the cricketer Geoff Boycott, the golfer Tony Jacklin and footballer Gary Lineker. Major commissions included a bronze for Newark town commemorating the Civil War and the D H Lawrence Memorial for the author’s study centre in Nottingham. His work was cast by The Morris Singer Foundry. Among later figures produced were a bronze portrait bust of the cricketer Sir Alec Bedser for Surrey County Cricket Club, and Robin and Marian, two life-size bronze figures of Robin Hood and Maid Marian, Edwinstowe, all 1998; and a life-size bronze of the Olympic oarsman Sir Steven Redgrave, 2002.
