Painter and teacher, born in Dumbarton, where he lived for much of his life. After education at Dumbarton Academy he studied at Glasgow School of Art under Hugh Adam Crawford and W O Hutchison, then widely in Paris, including Atelier Colarossi. Taught at Glasgow School of Art. Exhibited RSA, SSA, Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and on the continent and had several one-man shows in Glasgow and Edinburgh. New Museum and Art Gallery, Newport, holds his work.
