Landscape painter, born in Worcester, where he was privately educated and made his career. Worked for Royal Worcester Porcelain Factory as decorator for eight years, then studied at Académie Julian, in Paris, 1895–6. Also worked in Switzerland on several occasions and became noted for mountain and winter scenes, such as his Winter’s Sleep, owned by Tate Gallery. Showed for about 30 years from 1896 at RA, also extensively at RBA of which he was a member, RCamA and elsewhere.
