Ten block like figures are visible from the cathedral precinct, seated with a bible and attribute, while two further face the bishop's garden to the north. Barrett's figures are notably larger than the surviving stumps. They are worked to a formula, seated bearded and holding prominent attributes, now often difficult to read from the ground. Reading from the south the attributes are: a ship – Saint Jude; a bible; a bible and spear – Saint Thomas; a bible and pilgrim’s bag decorated with a shell – Saint James; a bible and axe – Saint Matthias; a bible and sword, Saint Paul; a tanner's knife (?) – Saint Bartholomew; a block (keystone?) and decorated cup – St Peter (?); a chalice and sword – Saint John; a cross and bible – Saint Andrew.
