Thomas Allen entered Queen's in 1881, became a Fellow in Greek and was known for his work on Homeric manuscripts. The artist, Halliday was born in Liverpool, studied there, in Paris and at the Royal College of Art. He was President of the RBA and the Royal Portrait Society.
