The work is Gothic style, in the form of a medieval cross, and octagonal in plan. It features a high plinth of four steps with a circular bowl set into the front; a two-stage shaft with an inscription on three sides of the first stage, trefoil panels in the upper stage, with a carved coat of arms in the front panel and monogrammed initials 'M G H' in the others, linked hoodmoulds with animal-mask stops, a three-tier offset, and a pinnacle with trefoil panels and an apex cross. The inscription is on the shaft.
