The Scottish firm of J. & W. Guthrie began making stained glass in 1884 and employed a number of talented young designers, including Harrington Mann (1864–1937). Mann was a talented painter and a member of the Glasgow Boys, a group of male painters with a passion for naturalism and realism. This kneeling angel panel is an elegant design which demonstrates Mann's sensitive approach to colour. It is one of several stained glass designs he produced in the 1890s for the Guthrie firm. The window was donated to the museum when Trinity Church, Claremont Street, Glasgow was converted in 1979 for use as the concert and rehearsal space for the Scottish National Orchestra. The building was later sold and has since become a place of worship for the Tron Church.
