Painter and teacher, born in Exeter, Devon, eventually settling in Exmouth. He studied at Sheffield College of Art, then Royal College of Art, 1927–31, and after being in charge of Colchester School of Art and Maidstone College of Art became principal of St Martin’s School of Art, retiring in early 1970s. Showed at RA Summer Exhibition, elsewhere in London, the provinces and abroad.
