Artist and lecturer, who said that his paintings were “like visual records of an idea”. Born in Winchester, Hampshire, Eastwood studied at Exeter College of Art, 1959–62, and from 1972 was on the staff of University of Exeter New Library, where he was deputy head and co-founder of the audio-visual section. Eastwood was a busy lecturer in Britain and abroad, modern and contemporary art being key subjects. Mixed shows included Harry J Lunn Gallery, New York, 1960; Whitechapel Art Gallery, 1976; Spacex Gallery, Exeter, from 1982; and Gordon Hepworth Gallery, Newton St Cyres, 1991, in Devon Artists. Had a solo exhibition at Galerie Jean Camion, Paris, 1960, later ones including Falmouth Art Gallery, 1997. Lived at Pinhoe, Exeter, Devon.
