South Shields Community Fire Station was the first of the purpose-built stations built by Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service.
Its coastal location presents a number of safety risks. The station is home to a support vehicle for accessing hard to reach incidents in areas such as the cliffs on the Leas.
Its community safety centre houses the Community Safety Team and the Fire Cadets. It offers a 120 seat auditorium and a meeting room for 12.
