The Old Haa of Brough in Burravoe is the oldest house in Yell, and dates from 1637. After extensive repairs by the Old Haa Trust, the building was opened in the mid-1980s as a museum to promote interest in local and natural history. The adjacent building, 'Da Smiddy', was then taken over and provides additional space for a craft shop, arts and crafts gallery and recording studio. At the rear of the building is an award-winning floral garden and picnic area.
The oil paintings in the care of the Old Haa Trust all have a specific connection with Yell, and have been bequeathed or given to the museum by their owners.
The Old Haa is the local museum for Yell, open from the last Sunday in April to the last Sunday in September, except Mondays and Fridays. To view a specific painting, please contact the Old Haa before your visit.
