Fetlar Interpretive Centre is a community museum awarded Visit Scotland four-star tourist attraction status. The museum houses displays on island history, archaeology, folklore and wildlife. It has films of Fetlar from the 1930s onwards, recordings of island folklore and music, an extensive archive of photographs going back to the 1860s, and documents and diaries from the late 1800s. In addition it has a collection of crofting and peat flitting tools and equipment, some superb knitting, and fascinating items from Fetlar's domestic, nautical and crofting heritage. Other exhibits include the award-winning section on Sir William Watson Cheyne and his contribution to antiseptic surgery, and an extensive collection of items from Brough Lodge.
