More about

The Local History Collection consists of a large range of objects all connected to the social and industrial heritage of the local area. The Collection was founded in 1980 and has grown steadily each year through donations from the general public, both in terms of objects, and also financial contributions made to the donations fund, allowing certain key items to be purchased. The paintings and drawings section is primarily made up of pictorial representations of the town of Prescot, and a selection of portraits of important individuals. One of these is a portrait of the former Chairman of the British Insulated Callendar Cables Company, Sir Alexander Roger by the Portuguese artist Henrique Medina. There are also a number of historic works of art on long term loan to the collection from private owners and also the Parish Church. One of these loans is a collection of 18th- and 19th-century portraits of the Molyneux-Seel Family from Huyton Hey.
