Mandy McIntosh is an artist from Glasgow who works across disciplines, often with the community. Previously employed by KENZO and the NHS, she has been making films, textiles, graphics, drawings, community art and sculpture for over 25 years.
Mandy has made several animated films for TV, broadcast on Channel Four and STV, and her interactive 2004 Weightless Animals project won a BAFTA. More recently she has been making bronze public-realm sculpture and working on acts of community-led recuperation through reinstating orphaned artefacts and pulling focus to what is already here.
She is currently artist-in-residence for Ward 17 in North Glasgow, where she is from. This is the third phase of a Glasgow Life initiative to place an artist in every ward of the city. She is also developing a new collaborative project with working-class women entitled DONE UP, looking at printmaking and home decor, and working on a 2023 exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow.
In addition to making art, she is also undertaking a practice led-PhD at Glasgow School of Art, which provides a critical reflection on the way sculpture has been deployed within housing schemes in the Central Belt of Scotland.
