Lauren has worked at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall since 2009 in the position of Hall Manager & Audience Development Officer and latterly as Museum Director. The role incorporates the day-to-day operation of the Hall as an accredited museum. The Hall is the home to a nationally important collection of silver, artwork dating from the 16th century to the present day and a unique collection of vernacular furniture. Lauren represents the Hall in several external capacities, including sitting on the Steering Panel for Art UK; the online home for every public art collection in the United Kingdom representing over 3,400 British institutions.
Lauren completed a History Degree from York St John University in 2003. After volunteering with York Archaeological Trust she was employed at York Museums Trust in various roles including Acting Head Guide at the Yorkshire Museum. In 2005 she completed a Masters Degree in Archaeological Heritage Management at the University of York.
Before joining the Hall, Lauren worked as a Documentation Assistant for Hull Museums cataloguing the extensive and varied archaeological collections on display and in storage at the Hull and East Riding Museum.
