Senate House, University of London has since 2010 housed the Art Collection of the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA); artworks from the second half of the 20th Century by 25 leading artists including Richard Hamilton, Victor Pasmore and Bridget Riley, all of whom had been involved in art and design education. The CNAA's predecessor, the National Council of Diplomas in Art and Design (NCDAD) assembled an art collection to celebrate the achievements of Britain's art schools, at a cost of £10,000, in 1974. NCDAD had administered art education since 1961, but, by 1974, it was superseded by the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA). The Collection is followed by several other Modern British artworks from Senate House.
