'A Fish Sale on a Cornish Beach' by Stanhope Forbes is the most famous of the artworks held at The Box, Plymouth, which opened in 2020 after Plymouth's historic collection - donated to the people of Plymouth in 1852 by William Cotton (1794–1863) and known as the Cottonian Collection, housed in what was previously Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery - closed in 2016. The collection's 20th Century holdings have built up over the previous century with help from The Art Fund, who acquired Ginner's 'Plymouth Pier from the Hoe' and the Contemporary Art Society, and naturally features a selection of later Newlyn School and St Ives School artists, along with a representative selection of Camden Town Group artworks.

Artists featured in this Curation: Charles Ginner (1878–1952), Grair Gavrilovich Arakelyan (1922–2004), Robert Polhill Bevan (1865–1925), Samuel John Lamorna Birch (1869–1955), Esther Borough Johnson (1866–1958), John Randall Bratby (1928–1992), Reginald Brill (1902–1974), Prunella Clough (1919–1999), Henry George Cogle (1875–1957), Cecil Collins (1908–1989), and 44 more
