The Museum of London holds works by major artists who have portrayed London from the 16th century to the present day. Amongst a collection of 100,000 paintings, prints and drawings, either by London artists or taking London and Londoners as their subject, the 20th Century holdings present images of many aspects of London: the different areas of London, the Thames, London in wartime, the parks, theatre and night life, transport and industry to name but a few. The Museum is due to reopen at its new Smithfield site in 2026.
