One of the strongest collections of Modern British Art in England, and deserving of a wonderful home and to be seen and enjoyed both by local residents and those visiting this town aspiring to be a city. Strengths in depth right across the century, a quite remarkable achievement for a collection outside of the major metropolitan centres. A selection from over 600 works of art and 300 studio ceramics, with acquisitions helped by the marvellous support of both The Art Fund and The Contemporary Art Society.
