Celebrating its 60th birthday in 2022, the Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie on the outskirts of Glasgow is a purpose built gallery opened in 1962. It owes its creation to the funds provided to build the gallery by local banker and artist Robert Lillie (1867-1949), who provided a founding bequest of hundreds of his own artworks. Since 1962 the Gallery has formed an impressive collection of Scottish art from the late 19th Century to the present day. Developed in association with Grant Waters, Art Detective Group Leader: South East England, East England and the Midlands.

Artists featured in this Curation: Robert Lillie (1867–1949), Lewis Allan (b.1925), Louise Gibson Annand (1915–2012), Mary Nicol Neill Armour (1902–2000), Barbara Balmer (1929–2017), George Telfer Bear (1876–1973), John Bellany (1942–2013), Elizabeth V. Blackadder (1931–2021), Robert Henderson Blyth (1919–1970), Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell (1883–1937), and 35 more
