Broomfield Hospital wanted to create a warm welcome on the approach to the hospital. Whatever they chose would be experienced in the round and they wanted a space to draw people in, something with some excitement, fun and surprise about it, a place you'd want to explore. The placing and the colouring of the 20 identical arcs is informal but highly contrived. Wherever you choose to stand you will only see a few of the colours. The result is close to a conjuring trick and creates a change of mood as the whole space seems suddenly re-decorated in a different hue. As you move around the 'woodland' the arrangement of eight colours gives a continuously changing spectrum of colour.
