William Ziegler, the son of Alexander Ziegler, graduated with an MD from Edinburgh in 1849, and a FRCPEd in 1861. He assisted his father in his general and obstetric practice. He was a physician to the Royal Maternity Hospital and medical officer to the Free Church Training College. William Ziegler examined on Midwifery and Medical Jurisprudence for the College. A modest and retiring man, he was highly regarded as a general practitioner.
