This is a head and shoulders portrait of William Wooller, a wool merchant and benefactor of the Company of Merchant Adventurers who was admitted in 1587. In his will, William Wooller left a legacy to the inhabitants of Bingley town, which for 20 years after his death ensured the welfare of both the town's poor and that of the school.
