A freestanding tall stone Latin cross set on a coursed rock faced square stone plinth and three circular steps. Stone tablets are set into the faces of the plinth on three sides – the third added after the Second World War – and the lettering is in black. The whole is set on a stepped stone base. The unusual dedicatory wording is adapted from that on the next of kin scroll from the government to the next of kin. The Second World War tablet is set below the dedication tablet on the front face.
