'Walking Madonna' is sited facing outwards from the Cathedral, so that she integrates with the people visiting the cathedral. As she doesn't stand on a plinth, her face is aligned almost at eye level for an adult of average height, and she stands within – rather than loftily above – the congregation as they arrive for and depart from services.
