Half-length representation of the Virgin with the Christ child. She is seen in three-quarter frontal view, turned to the right, holding the baby close to her face in a maternal gesture. His right cheek touches her left and he lifts a hand to touch the side of her chin; with his left hand he reaches down to touch his right foot. With her hands gently cradling him, she gazes downward as he turns and lifts his head upward. The Virgin is depicted with long, brown hair partially covered by a blue cloak, a ribbon across the top of her brow has a jewelled clasp; she wears a red gown with a golden undergarment visible at the cuffs. The child is fair haired and is partially covered with a little white drapery. The background is gold in colour with dark speckling.
