The statue depicts a seated female figure. She sits with one leg crossed over the other. This leg is supporting a book. The figure's head is angled downwards towards the book, whilst her hands are busy plaiting her hair. The figure appears bare-chested with a shroud draped across her legs.

The statue sits upon a simple chair, largely obscured by her shroud, whilst a mirror lies discarded at her feet. This mirror and chair rest upon an octagonal base.

The statue has been mounted upon a column-style plinth. The plinth has a red and black marble surround, mounted with black marble terminals.
