Chassereau came to London from France in the company of his parents, around the year 1714. He was admitted to the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers in 1721. In 1761 – he had by this time retired from the family business – Chassereau was made a Director of the French Hospital and, upon his death, left significant sums of money to his surviving family.
