THIS MONUMENT, ERECTED ADJACENT TO 'STIRLING WALK' / WAS OFFICIALLY DEDICATED ON 9th JUNE 2000 / TO / THE MEMORY OF ALL THOSE WHO SERVED AND LOST THEIR LIVES / ON / 190 AND 620 RAF (STIRLING) SQUADRONS DURING WWII / ONE OF THEIR FINAL OPERATIONS, 'OPERATION VARSITY' WAS FROM / THE AIRFIELD LOCATED ON THIS SITE, TO ASSIST IN THE DROPPING / OF AIRBORNE TROOPS TO CROSS THE RHINE AT VESSEL ON / 24th MARCH 1945 / IN THE FINAL ASSAULT THAT LED TO THE END OF HOSTILITIES. / MAY THEY REST IN PEACE.
