Stranover and his studio completed a number of still life paintings that depicted fruits, animals and birds in an open view. Lemons, oranges, peaches, grapes and figs, fill and surround a round basket, symbolising abundance and prosperity.

Great care was taken to show the qualities of each surface to reflect light, an influential characteristic of Dutch and Flemish art. This use of light creates a great variety of colour shades which aims to capture a realistic view of texture.

Stranover (or Stravonius) was baptised in Hermannstadt (now Sibiu, Romania) and he worked in London, Holland, Dresden and Sibiu.
