Inscription description

on a metal plaque screwed to the base: Sir Gareth Edwards / Judged to be one of rugby's finest players, Sir Gareth Edwards CBE played 53 consecutive games / at scrum half for Wales from 1967 to 1978. During that time his country won three Grand Slams / and five Triple Crowns. At the age of 20, Gareth became Wales' youngest Captain, and he played / for the British Lions on three tours - South Africa 1968 and 1974 and New Zealand in 1971. He also / made many appearances for the Barbarians; his try against New Zealand in January 1973 is revered / by rugby fans as one of the game's greatest. / Barnwyd ef yn un o chwaraewyr gorau'r byd rygbi, chwaraeodd Sir Gareth Edwards CBE 53 gêm yn / olynol fel mewnwr i Gymru o 1967 hyd 1978. Yn ystod y cynfod hwnnw, enillodd ei wlad dair Camp / Lawn a phum Coron Driphlyg. Pan oedd yn ugain oed, daeth Gareth yn Gapten ieuengaf Cymru, / a chwaraeodd i'r Llewod Prydeinig ar dair taith - De Affrica yn 1968 a 1974 a Seland Newydd yn / 1971. Chwaraeodd droeon hefyd i'r Barbariaid; mae cefnogwyr rygbi'n clodfori ei gais yn erbyn / Seland Newydd ym mis lonawr 1973 fel un o oreuon y gêm.
