The repeating inscriptions in the narrow bands consist of prayers for the four Orthodox caliphs and the Companions of the Prophet, as well as all prophets and messengers. Alternate wider bands read, 'God, my Lord, there is none but He, Muhammad the beloved of my Lord'– and 'Prayers and Peace be upon you, O messenger of God'.
