Saint Wilgefortis, also referred to as the 'Bearded Lady'. The cult of the legendary saint, based on a misunderstanding of figures of a fully clothed Christ on the cross, arose in the Netherlands. A favourite with women forced into unhappy marriages, she was also known as Saint Uncumber.
