View of craggy rocks on the beach at Iona in Scotland. The rocks are heavily outlined in black, indicating that there are dark silhouettes being created around each rock. The sea is visible through a gap to the right, where above the sky extends in diagonal patches of white and blue. The resultant effect of outlining the rocks makes the painting appear stylised in the manner of a cartoon; however, the painting is sincere, and the dark lines represent the effect of the sun creating shadows on the landscape.
