A statue of Robert Louis Stephenson roughly twice life-size in contemporary dress holding in his right hand partly unfurled plans probably representing engineering designs. He is standing on a pedestal with an inscription recording his dates of birth and death. This statue is in the open space in front of Euston Station. Originally installed in about 1870 between the two stone entrance lodges located beside Euston Road which were constructed at the same time, it was moved to Euston Square, probably when that was demolished. When the station was rebuilt in 1968 it was moved to the forecourt.
