Rodney used a projector to enlarge his drawings onto X-rays; he then traced and cut out the images using a scalpel. The silhouetted figures were used as negatives to produce photographic prints, which formed the frieze of 'Soweto/Guernica', shown alongside. The panel of figures displayed here became a motif that was repeated throughout Rodney's solo show 'Crisis' at the Chisenhale Gallery, London and the Graves Art Gallery, Sheffield in 1989.
