BORN AT KENDAL AUGUST 16TH 1783 / AFTER A RESIDENCE OF NINE YEARS IN THIS TOWN HE REMOVED TO LEEDS AUGUST 1817, / WHRE HE DIED MAY 18TH 1818, AGED 35 YEARS. / AND WAS INTERRED AT BLACKLEY CHAPEL IN THIS PARISH / IN TESTIMONY OF PUBLIC RESPECT FOR GREAT TALENTS IMPROVED BY EXTENSIVE LEARNING / AND EMPLOYED IN THE FAITHFUL DISCHARGE OF DUTY TO GOD AND MAN .
