A half-size model of one of two identical crests from the Union Chain Bridge. The original cast-iron crests were attached to cables in the centre of the bridge which marks the border between Scotland and England. The crest shows clasped hands with foliage containing two thistles (representing Scotland) and two roses (representing England). The motto is 'Vis Unita Fortior' (United Strength is Stronger).
