This portrait of Mary, wife of the Rev'd Thomas Alford, J. P. Vicar of Westonzoyland, Etc. daughter of Richard Standfast, Esq: of Cheddon Fitzpaine, Co. Somerset, was painted at the time of her marriage in 1735 by Joseph Highmore. Her son Samuel Alford became Vicar of Curry Rivel & Dean of St. Burian, & inheriting Heale House, lived there & died there in 1799. He left this portrait of her grandmother (& also that of Thomas Alford) to his daughter Anne, who had married Wm. Bgrt Morgan, a Banker;
