A carved wooden figure, possibly male, from the Congo standing with his legs slightly apart and arms lifted, resting on top of his head. African and naturalistic in style with circular head, delicately carved facial features, shaped mouth, closed eyelids and detailed eye brows. Figure has black painted detail across body and hair, and is standing on a small rectangular base with curved front and back edges. Figure was possibly carved for personal use or as a receptacle for the spirit of an ancestor or elders. A small hole has been carved through the centre of the base.
