This painting depicts an abstract view of an unspecified 'Campo' or square in the Italian city of Venice. The word 'campo' traditionally refers to an area of land assigned to agriculture or sport. Peter Berrisford was a British-born painter, lithographer and illustrator who featured Venice in much of his work.
