A trough and drinking fountain made of a medley of building stones, including grey and pink sandstone, white marble, polished pink and grey granite. There is an arched recess to the right over the fountain with a low trough in front and a rectangular continuation to the left with drinking fountain and basin. A Romanesque arch is set to the right of two receding orders, with weathered Lombardic decoration, carried on colonnettes with floral capitals of marble. There is a continuous impost band of red sandstone and a depressed arch over the former fountain with voussoirs of alternating varieties of sandstone and a projecting moulded trough of grey sandstone. To the left, the drinking fountain has a basin of pink granite and a step between colonnettes of pink granite with marble capitals. The openings are set between ashlar blocks of pink and grey sandstone.
